READ ABOUT Odzala-Kokoua National Park
Camp Imbalanga is a fully catered lodge featuring four ensuite canvas chalets.
Nestled under the shady canopy of enormous trees, this forest camp accommodates eight people. The ensuite guest chalets - discreetly positioned for privacy - are located a short walk along forest paths from the central area. Each is on a raised wooden deck and shelters under a palm frond roof.
The central area, also on a raised wooden deck, features an airy dining room, lounge, kitchen area, small shop and firepit.
The unfenced forest camp is a 3-minute walk along a walkway from Imbalanga Baï - one of many baïs in Odzala-Kokoua National Park where guests can view secretive wildlife species such as western lowland gorillas and forest elephants.
Camp Imbalanga is closed from 1-30 April and from 10 December to 1 January each year
(This camp is currently on a manual booking process. Please excuse the delay compared to our other camps. We will automate this process as soon as possible.)

visit baïs to view wildlife from an elevated covered tree house. A baï is a swampy clearing in the forest where wildlife gathers to drink and ingest mineral-rich soil. This is the best way to observe secretive species such as forest elephants, forest buffaloes, bongos, and gorillas.
Imbalanga Baï - a small baï near Camp Imbalanga is easily accessible via a 3-minute walk along a path and wooden walkway;
baïs further out can be visited during day trips, where you return to Camp Imbalanga on the same day;
bird watching and nature hikes - including spotting primates such as lowland gorillas, chimpanzees and many monkey species;
river cruises - to find birds, primates and crocodiles
NOTES:
Gorilla trekking: The process of habituating a family group of lowland gorillas to small groups of tourists is underway and will only be available once the process is complete
Length of stay: We advise a stay of 4-5 nights to increase your chance of good wildlife encounters. This is a wild, remote area, and wildlife encounters of sought-after species such as gorillas and forest elephants are not guaranteed on any given day. Staying longer than five nights is possible, but be aware that most of your activities take place near the big rivers and baïs. Journeying to these remote areas every day is tiring - for you and for the Camp Imbalanga team. Due to the dense forest understory around Camp Imbalanga, activities there are limited to relaxing in camp and visiting Imbalanga Baï.
Camp Imbalanga is in Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Congo-Brazzaville. Click here for more information about Odzala-Kokoua and how to get there.
