Liuwa Camp

Liuwa Camp is a fully catered lodge featuring seven ensuite canvas chalets, of which one is a honeymoon suite. There is also a separate family unit.

On an island tucked away under a shady canopy of tall trees, the light-footprint solar-powered Liuwa Camp accommodates 18 people. The ensuite guest chalets are on raised decks and spread out on either side of the camp’s central area. Each unit is discreetly positioned for privacy and to maximise views of the expansive plain and the camp’s waterhole.

The canvas central area – a showcase of the colourful Lozi culture – features an airy dining room, spacious lounge and library. A firepit is the ideal spot for evening contemplations under the legendary night skies of Liuwa.

The unfenced camp enjoys views over the waterhole and the floodplains of Liuwa Plain National Park and beyond.

Note: Liuwa Camp is closed from January to April each year due to flooding

Activities:

Liuwa Camp offers the following activities (included in the price):

1 - Morning, afternoon and night game drives in an open game-drive vehicle with a local guide

2 - Guided walks - join a qualified walking guide for a walk across the plains for a chance to spot wildlife, birds and reptiles

3 - Find and follow those migrating wildebeest and the attendant predators

Length of stay:

We advise a stay of 3-4 nights to increase your chance of good wildlife encounters. This is a wild, remote area, and wildlife encounters are not guaranteed on any given day.

Health:

Malaria is present, although low-risk. There is no on-site medical facility but emergency evacuation is available via SATIB24.
